The first ships Whitby and Hesperus what brought our Indentured Ancestors to BG landed on the unkempt shores of BG on May 5th 1838. They came to work on a 5-years contract with the option to return to India if they so decided. Many desired to return to their motherland, but was denied the chance to go back, because of different reasons. Many couldn't afford the return fares.
But, their indomitable courage, pioneering spirit, strenght of character and faith in their beliefs kept them together. Kudos to our brave ancestors!
